"BOOK LUST" AUTHOR NANCY PEARL TO HOST MAY 10 EVENT WITH JACK HAMANN
TOWN HALL SEATTLE is the venue for a discussion about ON AMERICAN SOIL, co-sponsored by HUMANITIES WASHINGTON and THIRD PLACE BOOKS

Nancy Pearl, America's most famous librarian and author of the best selling "Book Lust", will interview Jack Hamann about his debut book, ON AMERICAN SOIL, at TOWN HALL SEATTLE at 7:30pm on May 10, 2005.

The event will be the latest in a series of author appearances hosted by Pearl. Previous authors include Isabel Allende, Joseph Ellis, Susan Orlean, Stephen Greenblatt, David Domke and Stephanie Kallos. Nancy Pearl is the author of Book Lust (Sasquatch Books, 2003) and More Book Lust (Sasquatch, 2005). Each Monday at 2:00pm, Nancy talks about books on KUOW Seattle. On the first Friday of each month, she hosts Book Lust with Nancy Pearl on the Seattle Channel (channel 21). Nancy also appears regularly on NPR's Morning Edition, and was the inspiration for the internationally-famous Librarian Action Figure.

The organizer of the event is Humanities Washington, a nonprofit public foundation affiliated with the National Endowment for the Humanities. Humanities Washington provides support and funding for a wide variety of programs across the state, and is dedicated to providing humanities programs that nurture creativity, promote dialogue, and spark critical thinking.

The event is also sponsored by Third Place Books, a community bookstore located in Lake Forest Park Town Center in Bothell. Third Place Books was the creative force behind Lake Forest Park's Third Place Commons, a venue for author readings, music, art, food and community events
