ON AMERICAN SOIL SELECTED THE "STAR OF WASHINGTON" BY BARNES & NOBLE STORES IN WASHINGTON STATE

New book by JACK HAMANN to be featured during May 2005

The seventeen Barnes & Noble stores in Washington state have named Jack Hamann's debut book, ON AMERICAN SOIL, as the "STAR OF WASHINGTON" for summer 2005.

Barnes & Noble created the Star of Washington award in 2002 to celebrate the rich culture of Washington State and to bring the works of exceptional local authors to the public’s attention.

Barnes & Noble Community Relations Managers select a single statewide Star of Washington once each quarter. Past recipients of the award include such accomplished authors as Sherman Alexie, Pete Dexter, David Guterson, Nancy Rawles and Deb Caletti.

Originally targeted for Barnes & Noble stores in Western Washington, the promotion now includes all seventeen stores throughout the state. Throughout May, 2005, all Barnes & Noble stores in Washington will display ON AMERICAN SOIL, and promote it to the community. On June 2, a reception and signing will be held at the Woodinville Barnes & Noble, featuring author Jack Hamann.

For more information about Star of Washington, contact Amy Terich, the Community Relations Manager for the Woodinville Barnes & Noble.
