LIBRARY OF CONGRESS REVISES LISTING FOR ON AMERICAN SOIL
Rare decision to update CIP information
The Cataloging in Publication (CIP) Division of the Library of Congress has agreed to revise the catalog record for ON AMERICAN SOIL.
The new record adds additional categories, and reflects the book's focus on the largest and longest Army court-martial of World War II. The initial record made no reference to trials or courts-martial.
The purpose of the Cataloging in Publication (CIP) program is to serve the nation's libraries by cataloging books in advance of publication. Publishers participating in the CIP program submit electronically the full text of eligible publications to the Library of Congress. The Library creates a bibliographic record (known as CIP data) for each publication and transmits it to the publisher who in turn prints the record on the verso of the title page.
The revisions will make it easier for librarians, booksellers, academics, researchers and booksellers to properly categorize ON AMERICAN SOIL.
